Cilicia Anderson is a dynamic communications and development professional with extensive experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors. She formerly served as the Communications and Media Relations Manager at Edward Waters University, where she oversaw all aspects of communications, marketing, and fundraising efforts. In this role, Cilicia has successfully enhanced donor relations and stewardship initiatives, revitalized CRM databases to improve donor tracking and reporting, and developed strategic communication plans that align with organizational goals. Her ability to craft compelling narratives and implement data-driven strategies has significantly increased engagement and strengthened donor support for the organization’s mission.
During her tenure in the higher education sector, Cilicia spearheaded comprehensive communication strategies, served as the primary media liaison, and managed crisis communications to uphold the university's reputation. Cilicia revitalized the university’s brand by creating an accessible brand kit and developing engaging content across multiple platforms, including press releases, media kits, and social media campaigns. Her efforts in analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) led to enhanced engagement and reach through targeted digital strategies. Additionally, she contributed to presidential events as the university’s photographer and videographer, leveraging her visual storytelling skills to elevate institutional branding.

Cilicia currently serves as the Director of Communications and Development for OneJax, Inc., a Jacksonville-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering mutual respect and understanding among people of all beliefs, faiths, and backgrounds. She leads both internal and external communications, supports fundraising and donor relations, and has advanced CRM utilization and spearheaded OneJax's rebranding following its return to 501(c)(3) status. Cilicia’s creative outreach and engagement initiatives have strengthened community connections across Jacksonville’s diverse populations.
Cilicia’s career also includes impactful work with the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida A&M University, where she coordinated marketing initiatives that supported small business growth. Her background in journalism further complements her expertise in communications; she has worked as a staff writer and layout designer for Capital Outlook in Tallahassee and served as an associate producer for FAMU TV20.

A graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, Cilicia brings a diverse skill set encompassing strategic communications, donor cultivation, media production, data analysis, and proficiency in various media software. Her combined experience in nonprofit development and higher education communications positions her as a versatile leader capable of driving innovative strategies that amplify organizational impact.
